Frequently Asked Questions
How much time do we need for a Ceremony?
For a ceremony to have meaning and be inclusive of culture and legal requirements you need 20-40 minutes. I will be there for approximately 1½ hours in total, to meet and greet early guests, solemnise your wedding and to set up and pack up depending on if it is outside or in a venue with facilities.
If we want our Wedding somewhere unusual or out of Sydney, would you travel there?
I’m happy to make your special day just right and stress free for you, it is a benefit of having a local celebrant as travel time for meetings is kept to a minimum. However for long distances or overnight accommodation there would need to be an extra fee to be discussed with you at our first meeting or as soon as your venue was about to be booked.
We’re not religious but our families expect some things sacred included. Can you do this?
Of course, this is not a Registry Office wedding. It is a ceremony especially designed for you with the desire to give meaning to your commitment. Acknowledging your culture and traditions are part of the reason Wedding Knot exists.
If our Wedding is small/large do you charge less/more?
Your ceremony is for you and your guests, you are not charged per person. Time spent and distance travelled is the greatest part of the cost, so for a large or small Wedding the work and effort put into making your ceremony unique is the same.
Do you perform Marriage ceremonies for overseas visitors?
Yes – only the ceremony. I can put you in touch with a Wedding Planner for all your other needs. I would also advise you to contact the Attorney Generals site on getting Married to find out about visas and other requirements. I can help you to find interpreters for oral or written translation.
What fees do you charge? What is included?
My fees are reasonable and depend on a few of your choices, so when we meet we can discuss your needs.
The basic fee covers a minimum of two meetings and phone or email contact as required. A rehearsal so your witnesses know what they have to do as well as you.
You will receive a copy of the unique ceremony developed from the discussions we have had that makes your Ceremony, just for you.
All your legal documents including your Marriage Registration Certificate.
There is a fee if you need a PA so your guests can hear the beautiful vows you are making to each other.

The fee is in two parts
1. Booking fee/deposit to cover the legal paper work required and reserve your date and time. This is payable once you confirm your booking and is non refundable - and
2. Ceremony preparation and solemnisation fee. The rehearsal is included, as is Professional liaison with your other event personnel (photographer, musician and videographer). This is payable ten days before the Wedding date, details are set out in your Wedding Contract.
At our initial meeting you will need to bring your Original Birth Certificates, Divorce papers or Death Certificates, foreign passports to be sighted for the Attorney Generals Office and for the completion of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) that will be sent on-line for registration one month and one day prior to your Wedding and the transferring of your details to the Marriage Registry after your ceremony. If a Statutory Declaration is required or Legal Impediment to Marriage form, I will help you prepare these as well as offering referrals to the legally required Relationships Education. Also emails and meetings to discuss the style, cultural aspects, verses or readings and the vows to be included in your Ceremony.
If you choose to have a Wedding using symbols such as the Wedding Knot (which is individually hand made especially for those who want a symbol of their union showing the interconnection of life, growth and sustaining one another) $15 or Rose or Candles cost will be at market price.
